TGIF(here)

Thank God It's Finally Here.

So after over a hundred days spent waiting, agonzing, and alternatively weeping and swearing, the hockey lock out is over.  Within just a few short days, the season itself will begin, and the crazy madness that will herald a shortened sesason will be upon us.  Am I excited?  Of course.  But that does not mean I am also not pissed that it took this long.  I mean, honestly, if I lived where there was  professional team and I was in a position to afford regular games, I would seriously consider a token boycott.  It would accomplish nothing but perhaps to make me feel a little better.  However, I do not live near a professional team.  Ironically, the team I am closest to I hate almost as much as the Philadelphia Flyers.  Which, coming from a Pittsburgh Penguins fan should say something.  The greater irony and useless information would come in the fact that while abroad a year ago, the only other hockey fan I ran into was a Canadian, and not just a Canadian, but a Canucks fan.  Awkward.

So, what is the point of this?  Well, I don't think there is one.  I am thrilled to death to have a season, albeit a shortened one, but I will enjoy it all the same. Still, I feel like the girlfriend whose boyfriend didn't call, and didn't call, but who I love enough to take back anyway with a good excuse.  I think I'll start to hate myself should this happen again, and I fall for the same line.  Then, I'll be no better than any cookie cutter chick flick.  But, honestly, what Prince Charming will come sweeping in to save me from my madness?  Football?  Still haven't moved past their betrayal, added onto the Saints issues.  Baseball?  No offense to the sporting world in general, I find it boring.  Basketball?  Likewise, kinda boring.  Soccer?  I played it, and when I'm in Europe, I watch it, but, still, nothing.  I thought cycling might help me, but that turned out to be even more screwed up.  At least hockey came back with a reasonable excuse.  All cycling ever did to me was lie.  At some point, a girl has got to do what a girl has got to do.

Signing out (and waiting for Saturday)
