I'll admit, I'm not a hockey nut in the concept of knowing stats for every single member of a fantasy team.  I personally do not care for the idea of fantasy teams. I prefer the team as a whole. I see no reason to break it apart so that I can score points in some cyber world.  None at all.  Now, if I were to break down my favorite team, it would be to add, with no thought to salary cap, a few more of my favorite players.  I can convince myself that this is somehow different.

My point, however, is that while I may not be a numbers person, I am a hockey one.  I never got the hang of skating, no matter how I tried, but I love to watch the sport itself.  I watch teams I can scarcely name three players for simply because it is back and because I can.  This drives my family crazy from time to time, but, hey, I've had to sit through hours of football (NFL not soccer) coverage and even more endless days without break of politics.  If I happen to make everyone appreciate, for a second at least, the great sport, then they can go back to their regularly scheduled programming when I'm done.

Now while I'm in a 6.5 heaven, I won't go crazy and call it 7th, I have a few issues.  First and foremost, stop calling it the 2012/2013 season.  Just because we hockey fans are either foolish or stupid enough to come back to the NHL after being drug along like the consolation girl friend for the better part of six months does not mean that this season had anything to do with last year.  Yeah, so some signings happened before the lock out, but that should not count.  Stop pretending, NHL and NHLPA, that you did this for us.  Even I'm not that naive.

Okay, so I ranted.  That is the point of this blog.  My family does not follow hockey by and large, and they tend to get annoyed with me for harping on about it.  Now that I've sent my thoughts into the great abyss of my blog, well, maybe it'll keep me sane and quiet for a few more days.  Maybe.
